ONT-TAXS online is Ontario's new secure, simple and free online bilingual (English/French) tax service for business. It will provide you with secure and easy access to your Ministry of Revenue tax accounts where and when it's convenient for you.
What can I do in ONT-TAXS online?
ONT-TAXS online allows you to:
- File your returns
- Make your tax payments
- View up to four years of your account history
- Update your account information
- Request a refund of overpayment and track its status
Is there a cost to use ONT-TAXS online?
No, ONT-TAXS online is free.
Why should I use ONT-TAXS online?
ONT-TAXS online is a secure and convenient way to fulfill your tax obligations. It is easy to use and reduces the time you spend managing your Ontario business tax accounts.
Do I have to use ONT-TAXS online to file my returns or make payments?
No. Although we encourage businesses to use the new online service, it is not mandatory. The current methods of filing returns or paying Ontario business taxes will continue.
Why is the Government of Ontario introducing ONT-TAXS online?
ONT-TAXS online is part of the government's modernization activities and demonstrates our continued commitment to deliver effective tax administration services to better serve our tax clients.
How is my tax information protected in ONT-TAXS online?
ONT-TAXS online has strong security and safety measures in place to protect your information and provide you with a secure online experience. There are reliable controls on our systems to ensure that your information is secure and no one can read your tax information while it is being submitted to the Ministry of Revenue. These controls protect our systems from unauthorized access.
To access ONT-TAXS online, you will need a Government of Ontario ONe-key user ID and password. ONe-key verifies your identity and authorizes you to securely do business with the Ontario government online.
What hardware and software do I need to connect to ONe-key and ONT-TAXS online?
You must be on a secure browser to use ONe-key and access ONT-TAXS online. Secure browsers allow you to use ONe-key and access ONT-TAXS online in a protected session. Some examples of the minimum requirements for your PC browser are:
- A supported web browser with 128-bit encryption
- An Internet connection
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher
- Netscape 8.0 or higher
Can I authorize an employee or my accountant/bookkeeper to access my tax accounts in ONT-TAXS online on my behalf?
Later this year, the ministry is introducing enhanced features that will allow you to authorize employees or representatives to access ONT-TAXS online on your behalf. You will be able to assign full access to your online tax accounts or apply specific restrictions, such as 'view only'. More information about these enhancements will be available soon.
Is ONT-TAXS online ODA compliant?
Yes. ONT-TAXS online is compliant with the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA) and other government standards.
Yes. ONT-TAXS online is available in English and French.
