EHT Monthly Instalments

November 2004

Effective January 1, 2005, the way you calculate your EHT instalments will change. Under the new system, payments will be based on the actual payroll for each month and will be due on the 15th day of the following month.

The new system will simplify the preparation of the EHT annual return as monthly instalments and the tax liability will now both be based on the calendar year, thus eliminating any overpayments or underpayments of tax during the year.

The December 2004 instalment will be the last instalment made under the current system. It will be due on December 15, 2004, and will, as usual, be calculated using the November 2004 payroll as an estimate of the December payroll.

The first instalment for the 2005 year will be based on the actual payroll for January 2005 and will be due on February 15, 2005. You will receive this remittance form in January 2005.
