Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit
The Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects (OCASE) tax credit is a refundable tax credit based upon eligible Ontario labour expenditures incurred by a qualifying corporation during a taxation year with respect to eligible computer animation and special effects activities.
The Benefit
The OCASE tax credit is a 20% refundable tax credit for eligible Ontario labour expenditures incurred by a qualifying corporation.
Eligibility
Eligible Ontario labour expenditures incurred prior to May 12, 2005 cannot exceed 48% of the cost of eligible activities net of government assistance. There is no cap for eligible Ontario labour expenditures incurred after May 11, 2005.
How to Apply
A corporation is required to submit with its Ontario corporations tax return a Certificate of Eligibility from the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).
Enter the total amount of the credit on Line 197 of the tax return.
